One of the most interesting feature of Georgetown
Penang Malaysia is
the variation and expression of the
different
ethnic groups. Penang Malaysia is
a place in Asia where
Chinese, Indians,
Europeans, Malay etc. live together without
major problems.
This was not always this way
but with the time even people of totally
different ethnic background are able to find
out not to fight or quarrel all the time.
They started with a much better idea, trying
to get rich !

Some Georgetown Penang History
In December
1600 a group of British traders incorporated
The East India Company and got the
monopoly on all trade with the
East Indies.
The First ships of the company
arrived in India
in 1608 and over
the years
expanded their business
with India. The main
trading was in spices
such as gloves, nutmeg and pepper.
Silk, precious stones and other
luxurious items
were added later.
During the second half of the
18th century the East India Company expanded the trade to Canton in China where
they got a monopoly in silk trade.
Voyages of the ships to and from
China to England had a problem,
they needed a maintenance station on
their route between China and

Indian Dresses Never
Go Out Of Fashion
Indian fashion A-line dresses have always topped the
popularity charts. Regardless to say, Indian fashion A-line
apparels have always been in fashion. In many Indian weddings,
young girls wear bright colours in this specific style of Indian
lehnga dress. The cut of these Indian fashion A-line dress is
worth mentioning. It is well fitted from the waist and as it
goes towards the ankle, the flare widens.
The best part about A-line Indian fashion dresses is that
one feels comfortable wearing this outfit. And it never goes out
of fashion despite the fact we are witnessing a Indian fashion

When compared to Indian fashion fish cut dresses or straight

time. But of late, the charm of these fish cut and straight cut
dresses have withered away with the passage of time. However,
Indian fashion A-line dresses have been able to sustain its
vitality. In other words, it can be said that with these Indian
fashion A-line dresses, there has been a stability factor which
makes it all the more famous.
Even for women who are over
weight, one can surely think of wearing an a-line Indian
fashion dress for a simple reason it is not body hugging. And as
result, an individual doesn’t look vulgar. This adds to the
reason why these a-line apparels never go out of style. Indian
fashion is always in demand
and more and more women are going in for this style statement. |
In weddings, often girls are noticed in all shades of
a-line Indian fashion dresses. These pulsating hues add to the
overall beauty of women and when worn with suitable jewellery, the
effect is mind blowing and one looks absolutely dazzling and impressive.
A-line Indian fashion dresses are always in demand and are more
and more online stores are coming up with online Indian a-line dresses

In 1786 soon
after
Francis Light took possession of Penang Island or
Pulau Pinang in Malaysian language he had a fort of nibong palms
built at the tip of the cape which called fort point and named
it after Governor General of Bengal, Charles Cornwallis. This
fort was later renovated in the same size, shape and layout.

Malaysia Cannon
This cannon was presented to
the Sultan of Johore by the Dutch. However it was later
presented to Acheh and installed at Fort Melawati in
Kuala Selangor.
Finally, this cannon was seized by the British and
installed
here at the north-west angle of the fort in 1871.
According to local believe, childless women can conceive
by placing flowers in its barrel and offering special
prayers.

Convict labor which was first imported in 1789 and was
immediately put to work in the fort by Francis Light to
rebuild the fort in brick construction for about 67.000 Spanish
dollars in 1793. Fort Cornwallis was the first military and
administrative base of the East India Company and the garrison
of Fort Cornwallis consisted of a handful of Europeans, who
resided within the fort and sepoys who dwelled in huts next to
the fort.
The star shaped fort, enforced with cannons is
the Seri Rambai which still is located at the northwest bastion
of the fort.
Previously surrounded with a 27-foot wide and 6 feet
deep moat, it was filled in about a century ago since
it functioned as breeding ground for mosquitoes infected with
malaria. Today relics such as chapel, store, cell rooms and the
gunpowder magazine are still in the fort.
History galleries from the early 1700 and staff with
colonial costume is now shown in the fort. |
