Snake Temple Penang

- One of the famous temple in Penang is the Snake Temple.

At the Penang snake temple altar side some poisonous snakes and non poisonous daze around and have a lazy life, they are somehow knocked out be the ever burning incense.

Legend tells that a hermit gave refuge to snakes. After he passed away, a mysterious spiritual environment built up in the temple, as a result on certain days the temple is overcrowded by snakes.

Snakes are in the snake temple now all the time, the bigger are Burmese or Myanmar python.

Like with many places on this planet development cuts away the tropical jungle.

Beside of the snake temple Penang has plenty of other temples. Actually in Georgetown downtown there is a Chinese temple virtually on every corner.

The Penang snake temple is on the way to the airport just beside the 4 lane motorway. The snake are small pythons and soem other temple reptiles from the  jungle, actually the temple snakes function as a good source of income for some people around.
